I first worked as a trainee wedding photographer in Portsmouth some 25 years ago with one of the top local photographers, Bobby Collins.

Wedding photography was very different then as it was all film rather than digital and there was no such thing as ‘auto focus’ or other technology we all take for granted now!

Wedding photography styles have changed over the years of course. Nowadays most photographers aim to capture more natural looking shots, often called ‘reportage’ or candid style wedding photography. In the 1980’s everything was very posed and I guess that reflected the time!

I still find most people do like some traditional groups and posed shots and I aim to capture a mix of both – that’s to say some that are quite formal and posed and others which just capture a fleeting moment. The shot below is an example of this more natural style wedding photography.

Over my years working as a wedding photographer in Portsmouth I have photographed weddings at a number of great locations including HMS Warrior, Saint Mary’s Church and Portsmouth Registry Office. We are lucky to have such great locations around us for photographs and when time allows I use these as best I can!

As well as working as a wedding photographer in Portsmouth I am happy to travel reasonable distances and have photographed weddings in Chichester, Southampton and further afield at locations such as Leicester and South Wales. Please contact me so we discuss such requirements.

I know that Weddings are generally very expensive and that you may be looking for a cheap wedding photographer in Portsmouth. I hate the word ‘cheap’ and like to think I am affordable! As hopefully the pictures in this site illustrate I am passionate about photography and produce quality pictures with a creative flair but I also like to offer an affordable service.

I know some people have no option other than to ask a friend or friends to capture their wedding day if they can afford a wedding photographer but I like to see myself as a good alternative to this! Your friends may be great photographers and modern digital cameras can produce impressive results but it’s not the same as having an experienced professional dedicated to the job of capturing your day. My focus will be all on you on the day!
